Downtown Peoria is walkable, eclectic, exciting, and beautiful. It is filled with high-rise office buildings, sleek condominiums and apartment buildings, funky riverfront lofts, art galleries, theaters, restaurants, bars, and shops. To add even more to this dynamic city center, it is located along the Illinois River and includes the Peoria Riverfront -- one of the oldest and most exciting destinations in the state. The Riverfront includes the Peoria Riverfront Museum, the River Trail, the Riverfront Village, the Riverfont Market, and cruises on the Spirit of Peoria. Toward the northern end of Downtown Peoria, Glen Oak Park is a popular destination. This park covers 117 acres and, in addition to playgrounds, picnic areas, and fishing, the park includes the Peoria Zoo, the Peoria Playhouse Children's Museum, the Rotary Adventure Grove, and the Luthy Botanical Garden.
